New Delhi, Jan 4 (IANS) Baroda crushed Karnataka by seven wickets in the Ranji Trophy semifinal at Vadodara Tuesday and entered the final for the first time since 2002.
The match lasted less that five sessions, as Karnataka were bowled out for 88 runs in the second innings Tuesday after having folded for 107 on the first day.
In the second innings, left-arm spinners Bhargav Bhatt and Swapnil Singh wrecked Baroda, taking five wickets each as Karnataka lost their final seven wickets for 22 runs. Opener Robin Uthappa was the top scorer with 35 runs.
Baroda achieved the target of 43 runs by losing three wickets after Conor Williams made 18 and Jayskishan Kolsawala remained unbeaten on 16. Baroda had made 153 runs in the first innings.
In the other semifinal in Jaipur, Rajasthan piled on 483 for five in the first innings against Tamil Nadu at the close of second day’s play at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium.
Veteran Akash Chopra was the top scorer with 139. Ashok Maneria was batting on 88 when the second-day stumps were drawn.
