Ludhiana, Dec 31 (IANS) The Basketball Federation of India (BFI) will organise a two-day clinic for coaches starting Jan 1 at the Guru Nanak Dev Indoor Stadium here.

Men’s national coach Scott Flemming and Zak Penwell, national Strength and conditioning coach, will conduct the clinic. It will be an open event. This initiative is primarily undertaken by the BFI under the ‘Train the Trainers’ Programme.

“Train the Trainer programme is essential to the growth of basketball across India. The BFI with the help of the Sports Authority of India (SAI) has got international coaches for the purposes of, not only training our national teams, but also educating the masses to develop the game at all levels,” said Roopam Sharma, chief executive of BFI.
“I am grateful to both Scott Flemming and Zak Penwell for taking the time to come to Ludhiana and conduct this event. I hope the knowledge of the game imparted in all the participants will help in improving the efficiency at the grass root level and thus will help India to secure higher rank in future international tournaments,” he said.
