Bangalore, July 16 (IANS) Asian champion Pankaj Advani will lead a strong Indian contingent in the World billiards championship to be held later this year.
The squad also includes World women’s champion Umadevi Nagaraj besides former World champions Geet Sethi, Ashok Shandilya and Rupesh Shah, according to a press release from the Billiards and Snooker Federation of India here Monday.
With Devendra Joshi receiving a direct entry, India will also field the top four ranked players based on selection trials Alok Kumar, Dhruv Sitwala, Arun Agarwal and Balachandra Bhaskar apart from junior players Dhvaj Haria and Arantxa Sanchis.
Kamal Chawla and Brijesh Damani, who finished in that order during the National camp in Hyderabad, will represent India along with Arantxa Sanchis and Vidya Pillai in the IBSF World snooker championships to be held in Egypt from Nov 16 to 29.
National champion Aditya Mehta and Pankaj Advani will not be participating since they are in the professional circuit this year, the release added.
