Mallorca, May 14 (Inditop.com) Finishing blues cost S.S.P. Chowrasia dearly as he dropped five shots in the last five holes for a miserable five-over 75 in the first round of the Iberdrola Open Cala Millor Mallorca on the European Tour.

The lone Indian, as Jyoti Randhawa and Shiv Kapur took a week off, Chowrasia was way behind in the leaderboard at tied 94th.

Chowrasia was at even par after 13 holes with two birdies on the first and 12th and a double bogey on the seventh. He then dropped bogeys on the 14th and 15th and a double bogey on the 16th. A closing bogey on the 18th saw him end at 75.

South African James Kingston capitalised on the best of the conditions to take the first round lead. Out on the Pula course early before the wind really picked up, the 44-year-old returned a five under par 65.

Kingston ended the day two in front of Spaniard Alvaro Velasco, with Ireland’s Gary Murphy, Frenchman Raphaël Jacquelin, Spain’s Alejandro Cañizares and Dane Thorbjorn Olesen one further back.
