New Delhi, Nov 10 (Inditop.com) Tejinder Pal Singh hit a century to put Railways in a comfortable position against Himachal Pradesh on the first day of the Ranji Trophy Super League match here Tuesday.
Tejinder scored 102 as Railways were 238 for four at stumps at the Karnail Singh Stadium here.
Railways, opting to bat first, were put on the back foot after double strikes from off-spinner Sarandeep Singh (4-79). Sanjay Bangar (34) and Tejinder did the repair job but Sarandeep struck again rattling Bangar’s stumps to peg back Railways at 100 for three.
Tejinder and Yere Goud (48 batting) then stitched a 130-run partnership for the fourth wicket to put Railways on top at the end of the first day’s play.
At Rajkot, Shivakant Shukla (119) and Parvinder Singh (120 batting) did the bulk of scoring as Uttar Pradesh piled up 287 for five against Saurashtra at stumps.
