Mumbai, Aug 7 (Inditop.com) Indian speedster Zaheer Khan will miss the Champions Trophy in September due to a surgery on his left shoulder.
The 30-year-old left-arm pacer had injured his shoulder during the Indian Premier League in April-May. He is expected to return to the international fold by the end of this year.
Confirming this, Board of Control for Cricket in Indian (BCCI) secretary N. Srinivasan in a statement said: “Zaheer Khan had an arthroscopic labral repair in his left shoulder on July 13 by the Johannesburg-based doctor Mark Ferguson. Zaheer is undergoing rehabilitation in South Africa and is recovering very well.”
“Zaheer will return to India on August 9 for 10 days. He will fly back to South Africa for further rehabilitation on his shoulder.”
India are scheduled to tour Sri Lanka next month for a limited over tri-series also featuring New Zealand before moving to South Africa for the Champions Trophy that begins Sep 22.
India will then host Australia for seven one-day internationals in October-November and Sri Lanka for a Test and One-day series in November-December.
