Centurion, May 19 (Inditop) Chennai Super Kings captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni said their bowling against Kolkata Knight Riders was one of the worst of the Indian Premier League (IPL) after they failed to defend a score of 188.
Riding on Brendon McCullum and Brad Hodge’s blistering knocks, Knight Riders overhauled the stiff target to register their second win in the tournament. The loss leaves Super Kings with a must-win game against Kings XI Punjab in their last match.
“It is really disappointing to lose the match. We had enough runs on the board but they (Kolkata) had some brilliant batting. It was one of the worst bowling performances in the IPL from our side,” Dhoni said after the match.
He, however, sounded confident that they can beat Kings XI Punjab to reach the semifinals.
“It’s a must win situation for us in the last game. We were in a similar situation last year as well and had to win our last match to move into the semis. We will go out and and hope that we reach the semis,” said Dhoni.
“The guys need to perform. It’s about how the players raise their performance in such a situation. We have a fantastic side and hope for the best,” he said.
