Bangalore, Feb 13 (IANS) Australian vice captain Michael Clarke feels that his team’s chances of winnning the World Cup depends on how well he tackles the formidable spin attacks of hosts India and Sri Lanka.
The right-handed batsmen’s deft footwork makes him the team’s best hope against slow bowlers on the sub-continent’s turning tracks.
‘The sub-continental wickets will be slow and spin a bit, very similar to what we had in the West Indies in the 2007 World Cup. With the Indian Premier League (IPL), most of the guys have the experience of playing in Indian conditions and it will help them,’ said Clarke.
He said that it is important for him to play important against spin bowling.
‘I’ve played successfuly against spin in the past but have also got out to spin a fair bit as well. Spin is an art that can get you lot of runs, but some times lot of wickets as well. So I have to play well against spin,’ he said.
