Bangalore, Sep 30 (IANS) A spirited Mumbai Indians late Friday set a 177-run target for Cape Cobras from South Africa in rain-hit Champions League Twenty20 (CLT20) match at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in this tech hub.

Put in to bat after Cobras skipper Justin Kemp won the toss, the Mumbai batsmen raced to 176/5 in their 20 overs before the skies opened up and heavy showers forced the ground staff to cover the pitch and the outfield.

After a spirited opening partnership by Aiden Blizzard and Sarul Kanwar for 65, West Indian lad Kieron Pollard hit 58 in 37 balls and was involved in a 69-run fourth wicket partnership with James Franklin, who hit 18.

Blizzard hit five sixes and three fours to score 45 in 21 balls, while Pollard hit three sixes and six fours.

For the Cobras, Robin Peterson took two wickets, while Dale Steyn, Jean-Paul Duminy and Kemp took one wicket each.
