New Delhi, July 29 (IANS) India’s ace tennis player Somdev Devvarman crashed out in the second round of the ATP Farmers Classic tournament being held in Los Angeles.
According to information received here, Somdev, world No.103, suffered a 6-7(9), 2-6 defeat at the hands of Serbian Janko Tipsarevic Wednesday.
Tipsarevic had earlier defeated the top ranked Indian at the Chennai Open in January 2010.
The second round loss will fetch 32 ATP points for the Indian, including the 12 points he earned in the qualifiers.
The points collected here are likely to push Somdev into the pool of top 100 players in the world, when the latest ATP rankings come out Monday.
Somdev will become the first Indian in eleven years to break into the top 100 of the world rankings. Leander Paes achieved the same feat in 1999.
