New Delhi, Dec 22 (IANS) Soumyajit Ghosh shocked top-seed Abhishek Ravichandran to enter the men’s singles semifinals of the National Ranking Table Tennis Championships (North Zone) here Wednesday.

Aniket Koparkar, Sanil Shetty and Sourav Chakraborty also made the last four.

Soumyajit of the Airports Authority of India, fresh from his mixed doubles bronze in the World Junior Championships, edged past Air India’s Abhishek 11-5, 9-11, 9-11, 11-7, 11-9, 5-11, 11-6 in a thrilling quarterfinal at the Yamuna Sports Complex.

Soumyajit will next face Petroleum Sports Promotion Board Aniket, who came from three sets down to beat AI’s Pathik Mehta 11-13, 9-11, 7-11, 11-9, 11-6, 11-8, 11-3.

PSPB’s Sourav defeated Railways’ Harmeet Desai 11-7, 3-11, 11-8, 11-13, 13-11, 11-13, 11-4. Sourav will next play AI’s Sanil, who got the better of Tamil Nadu’s G. Sathiyan 9-11, 11-1, 11-8, 11-8, 11-5.
