New Delhi, July 28 (IANS) Work on 13 stadia being built for the Commonwealth Games and which are under the central government is satisfactory and up to the mark, Youth Affairs and Sports Minister M.S. Gill said Wednesday.
‘There are no shortcomings in the 13 stadiums that are under the sports department. Some stadiums are under the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) and Delhi government,’ Gill told reporters outside parliament.
He said work on the stadia had been completed in a short span of two years, which is an achievement for the ministry.
‘I joined on April 6, 2008 and the first job on hand was the releasing of funds for the stadiums. All the funds were released by June last year. All the stadiums are complete and the
weightlifting stadium will also be done before July 31,’ said Gill.
He also lauded the engineers for completing the work in record time.
