New Delhi, Oct 2 (IANS) The majestic and beautiful Taj Mahal in Agra has been attracting a lot of attention from the Commonwealth Games athletes, officials and visitors.
‘We get a minimum of 10 enquiries every day about a visit to the Taj. Everyone seems to want to go and get a glimpse of the Taj Mahal,’ an official of the travel and tour bureau in the Games Village said Saturday.
The Taj Mahal is a mausoleum Mughal emperor Shah Jahan built in 1653 for his wife Mumtaz Mahal. It is one of the World Heritage sites.
‘Because of security reasons, we are directing the interested people to their chefs de mission who, in turn, will get in touch with the Organising Committee. The committee will then take care of the arrangements,’ the official added.
There have been around 70 enquiries till Saturday, the official said.
The Games, being held in India for the first time, will come to a close Oct 14.
