Dhaka, Feb 19 (IANS) India crushed Bangaldesh by 87 runs in the opening match of Cricket World Cup at Shere Bangla Stadium here Sunday.
Chasing India’s 370 for four, Bangladesh could manage only for 289 for nine in their 50 overs. Tamim Iqbal (70) and skipper Shakib Al Hasan (55) were the top scorers for the hosts.
Munaf Patel was the pick of Indian bowlers with four wickets for 48 while Zaheer Khan took two for 40.
Earlier, Virender Sehwag (175) and Virat Kohli (100 not out) struck centuries to guide India to a massive total.
