Srinagar, April 20 (Inditop) One separatist guerrilla was killed Monday in an early morning shootout in Jammu and Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
Police said the incident took place in north Kashmir’s Trikulbal village, 45 km from here, when troops of 29 Rashtriya Rifles (RR), Central Reserve Police Force and special operations group of the state police surrounded a house in the village, acting on specific information about the presence of guerrillas inside.
“The hiding militant opened fire at the joint raiding party of the security forces after being challenged. The fire was returned, triggering a gunfight at the end of which the hiding militant was killed,” a police officer said.
He said the house in which the guerrilla was hiding was partially damaged.
