Bhubaneswar, Jan 29 (Inditop.com) Maoists killed a Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU) leader Friday in a forested area of Topadihi in Sundergarh district of Orissa, police said.
Thomas Munda was abducted by Maoist guerrillas from mining areas of Steel Authority of India (SAIL) at Kalta in Banai sub-division of the Sundergarh district Monday.
Munda’s body was recovered Friday afternoon near the rail tracks in the forested areas of Rengeda-Topadihi in the district.
“We have recovered the body near the rail track today (Friday). The Maoists also left some posters near the body, claiming responsibility for the death,” said Sudarshan Sethy, the sub-divisional police officer of Banai.
Around 60 armed Maoist guerrillas laid siege at the Kalta mines to enforce economic blockade ahead of the Republic Day Tuesday.
