Act against Chhattisgarh IAS officer: Lokayukta
Raipur, March 7 (IANS) Chhattisgarh Lokayukta has recommended action against an Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer for irregularities in appointments, official sources said Sunday.
In a report sent to the government, Lokayukta Justice L.C. Bhadu sought disciplinary action against Nand Kumar, secretary (school education), for the irregularities in the appointment of the director and the assistant director in the Chhattisgarh Mahila Samakhya Society.
The society works for the education and empowerment of women in rural areas.
The sources confirmed that Chief Minister Raman Singh had received a copy of the report, which also recommended the sacking of Shalini Raman and Prashant Sukhdev, who were appointed director and assistant director two years back by a committee headed by Kumar.
Kumar is a 1989 batch IAS officer of the Maharashtra cadre.
The Lokayukta has recommended action against three officers of the education department – G.R Chandrakar, R.K. Sharma and Bajrang Prajapati.
Last month, the Chhattisgarh government suspended a senior IAS officer, B.L. Agrawal, after income tax raids revealed that he owned moveable and immovable properties worth Rs.93 crore.
