Jakarta, Oct 5 (IANS) Flash floods in Indonesia have left at least 26 people dead, while many people were missing, officials said.

As many as 61 people were injured and 31 houses were damaged in the floods in West Papua province during the weekend, Priyadi Kardono, spokesman of the Disaster Management Agency, was quoted as saying by Xinhua.

Kardono said rescue operations for the missing people were hampered by fallen trees.

Muhammad Arifin, head of operations of the Search and Rescue Office for West Papua, said dozens of rescuers have departed for the region.
