Moscow, July 15 (Inditop.com) A Swiss company has claimed to have developed a new chocolate that won’t melt in hands or room temperature, and it eyes India and China as potential markets for the new product, according to a media report Wednesday.
The chocoloate “Volcano” produced by Barry Callebaut company will only melt when the temperature crosses 55 degrees Celsius, RIA Novosti news agency reported quoting Germany’s Die Spiegel newspaper.
“This is an impressive idea!” said Daniel Burki, a financial analyst from Switzerland’s Zurcher Kantonalbank, commenting on the sales prospects for the new chocolate.
The company believes Volcano will become a hit in such countries like India and China where chocolate melts on shop shelves, and where owners do not have enough money to buy expensive refrigerators, the report said.
“The growing middle class in countries with a hot climate, such as China, can and want to consume chocolate,” Burki said.
Chocolate consumption is down in Europe and the US by between two to eight percent, and the company hopes this new chocolate will boost sales in Asia to make up for falling profits.
