Sharjah, March 1 (IANS/WAM) United Arab Emirates (UAE) low-cost carrier Air Arabia has strengthened connectivity with Egypt with the launch of non-stop services to the country’s capital, Cairo.
The inaugural flight, G90620, took off for Cairo Feb 27 at a special ceremony attended by senior officials from Air Arabia and the Egyptian Ambassador to the UAE, Ihab Emam Hamouda.
The new service from the carrier’s primary hub in Sharjah marks Air Arabia’s fourth destination in Egypt and 90th worldwide.
Air Arabia now offers three weekly flights to Cairo, making it a convenient destination for passengers from and to the UAE, travelling for business or pleasure.
“We are very proud to have launched our inaugural flight to Cairo, marking our fourth destination in Egypt and 90th worldwide,” Adel Ali, group chief executive officer of Air Arabia, said.
“This first flight marks the start of three weekly flights to the Egyptian capital, which is a significant destination for us in terms of strengthening our connectivity with the country and enhancing bilateral ties between Egypt and the UAE,” he added.
Flights depart Sharjah International Airport Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, at 1 p.m. arriving in Cairo International Airport at 3.20 p.m. Return flights depart Cairo at 4 p.m. and arrive in Sharjah at 9.20 p.m.
Air Arabia also connects passengers from Sharjah to Alexandria, Assuit and Sohag in Egypt.
