Hong Kong, Sep 16 (DPA) Almost a third of middle-aged married women in Hong Kong have had no sex for a year with their husbands, who blame their nagging for the lack of conjugal relations, according to a study published Wednesday.
The study by the Chinese University found that 31.6 percent of married women aged 45 to 59 had not had sex with their husband for a year or more.
Younger wives fared better with 8.3 percent of married women 25 to 34 and 12.4 percent of married women 35 to 44 saying they had not had sex with their husbands for a year.
Most women who said they did not have sex said it was because they no longer loved the men they married, according to the Hong Kong Standard newspaper, which published the survey results.
Husbands, by contrast, said the main reason they no longer had sex with their wives was not because they did not love their spouses but because they nagged them too much.
“Fat or ugliness were not factors,” researchers Jean Kim told the newspaper. “Most men considered their wives physically rather attractive. However, they said their wives nagged and yelled at them too much.”
Nearly 3,000 married men and women were interviewed for the survey.
