Toronto, April 13 (IANS) Lawyers who are often needed to attend two courts at the same time have much to rejoice as an app can now scout for them a stand-in lawyer for bail hearing at another court whenever the need arises.
The new iPhone app called StandIn Law, once signed up, tracks lawyers by location, enabling a lawyer looking for a stand-in to immediately contact him/her if they are near a particular courthouse, The Globe and Mail reported.
The app also allows lawyers to make a payment to their stand-in lawyer via a credit card for a transaction fee of $7.50.
But court documents and other confidential information must be shared via phone or-e-mail.
The users also have the option of rating the performance of their stand-in lawyers, making it easier for them to go for the best available choice.
The app, created by Toronto-based studio Tiny Hearts, can free the lawyers of the time they invest on persuading their colleagues to appear on their behalf.
