Madrid, April 8 (IANS/EFE) Atletico Madrid led 2-0 just 10 minutes into Tuesday’s match here against Real Sociedad and that score held up as the visitors struggled to generate any offense against the defending La Liga champions.

The furious Atleti attack produced results in the second minute, when Real defender Mikel Gonzalez inadvertently headed Koke Resurreccion’s corner into his own net.
Koke also had a role in the second goal, as Antoine Griezmann put away the rebound after Real keeper Geronimo Rulli blocked a shot by Resurreccion.
Griezmann skipped the usual goal celebration in a nod to the five years he spent with Real Sociedad prior to joining Atletico.
Atletico’s third consecutive victory leaves them in third place with 65 points after 30 matches, two behind cross-town rivals Real Madrid, who play Rayo Vallecano on Wednesday.
Barcelona sits in first place, four points ahead of Real Madrid, with nine matches left to play.
Real Sociedad has 37 points and occupies 10th place in the 20-team first division.
