Dubai, June 7 (IANS/WAM) The authorities in Dubai have arrested more than 400 illegal street vendors, beggars and car washers as part of a crackdown launched last month.

Dubai Municipality inspectors, Dubai Police and Dubai Naturalisation and Residency Department have jointly carried out the operation.

Civic inspectors conduct daily spot checks in public places to prevent illegal street vending, car washing and begging.

In May, officials detained 357 street vendors, 25 beggars, 67 car washers and 17 illegal butchers and fish cleaners.

A total of 2,013 counterfeit products, including garments, perfumes, cameras and watches were seized. Some 4,127 DVDs of pirated films and 380 pornographic movies were seized.
