RIO DE JANEIRO, May 5 (Xinhua) Veteran forward Robinho has been recalled to the 23-man Brazil national team for the 2015 Copa America by coach Carlos Dunga.
The tournament is scheduled to be held in Chile, starting June 11, reports Xinhua.
Robinho currently plays for Brazilian team Santos. He helped lead the team to victory at the 2007 Copa America under Dunga’s direction.
Dunga, who took over as coach after Brazil’s 1-7 meltdown against Germany at the 2014 World Cup, has used the same line-up in the eight friendlies he’s headed since taking charge.
Neymar, who has been made team captain, is among eight players who also formed part of Brazil’s national team at the ill-fated 2014 Cup: Jefferson, Marcelo, Thiago Silva, David Luiz, Luiz Gustavo, Fernandinho and Willian.
Before travelling to Chile, Brazil is set to play two friendlies at home, against Mexico on June 7 in Sao Paulo and against Honduras on June 10 in Porto Alegre.
Brazil’s team will debut at the Copa America on June 11 in a match against Peru, as part of Group C, which also includes Colombia and Venezuela.
