London, Dec 1 (IANS) Top officials of Britain’s secret service are now using social networking website Facebook to recruit spies, a media report said Thursday.
Officials at the Government Communications Headquarters (GCHQ) are looking for 35 code-breakers, who can take a challenge and successfully crack the code on the ‘Can You Crack It?’ web page, The Sun reported.
The officials want to make sure the probable spies have the mental agility to do the top secret job.
If players successfully crack the code, they would win the right to apply for one of the elite secret service posts.
If finally hired, the players will find themselves defending Britain from cyber attacks, one of the biggest threats to national security.
‘Code-cracking skills are vital to secure the very best talent and to support the GCHQ mission in its fight against cyber threats,’ a GCHQ spokesman said.
