London, Aug 2 (IANS) Singer Ricky Martin says he enjoys being a father to two-year-old twins Matteo and Valentino, but hates changing their nappies.

‘I’ve always wanted to be a father. I knew it was something I wanted in my life. One day, I typed ‘surrogacy’ into the computer and started researching. Now I have twin boys who are the loves of my life,’ he told Australia’s Daily Telegraph.

‘Every decision I make is based on my children. They teach me different things every day, such as the beauty in simplicity. But I do hate changing dirty nappies; it’s not fun at all,’ he added.

The 39-year-old gay singer says after becoming a father he has become more selfless, reports femalefirst.co.uk.

‘Being a father, you come to know yourself. You have no choice but to become less selfish as it’s not about you anymore. But you also have to feel good about yourself in order to set a good example. Fatherhood has made me work on myself,’ he said.

Martin’s sons – Matteo and Valentino – were born via a surrogate mother in August 2008.
