London, June 28 (IANS) Girls Aloud singer Cheryl Cole and footballer Wayne Rooney are the latest celebrities to be turned to comic book stars after David Beckham and Taylor Swift.
The ‘X Factor’ beauty will be seen in cartoon form as the new singing sidekick of protagonist Minnie the Minx in popular comic book ‘The Beano’.
Cole landed the role when Dundee-based publishers D.C. Thomson spotted her sporting a red and black striped outfit, designed by the late Alexander McQueen, in her video for ‘Fight For This Love’.
While Cole sings in ‘The Beano’, Rooney, 24, risks injury by taking to the field with hard-tackling Minnie.
‘Minnie the Minx will be meeting Cheryl and Rooney in a run of stories that will coincide with the school summer holidays,’ dailystar.co.uk quoted a Beano spokesman as saying.
‘They are both hugely popular with readers and I’m sure fans will be thrilled at the prospect of them coming face to face with a national institution, in the shape of Minnie,’ the spokesman added.
