Shenyang (China), Aug 26 (Xinhua) A senior official in China’s Liaoning province has been sentenced to 11 years in prison for taking bribes.
Jia Chengwei, former vice secretary general of Liaoyang city’s Communist Party of China (CPC) committee, had accepted 120,000 yuan ($17,566), $50,000 and five plasma and LCD TV sets as bribes, said the Intermediate People’s Court Wednesday.
He took the bribes for which he granted preferential treatment in environmental reviews, when he was the director of the municipal bureau of environmental protection.
Jia also failed to account for another 2.15 million yuan worth of property.
The former official will not appeal the sentence which was delivered last Friday, the court said.
