Islamabad, Feb 2 (IANS) At least eight people, including two children, were killed Wednesday in a powerful blast in Peshawar, capital of Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.

‘The bomb was planted in a vehicle that was destroyed completely,’ police said, adding that ‘several vehicles and nearby shops were also damaged in the blast’.

‘At least 15 people have been injured (and they) have been shifted to the nearby hospital,’ reported Samaa TV.

A police station seemed to be the target of the blast, but the terrorists could not enter it due to stringent security, police said.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province has witnessed terror attacks ever since the security forces launched a crackdown to flush out Al-Qaeda and Taliban militants from the tribal areas.
