Moscow, March 16 (IANS) Fire broke out at the bell tower of the Novodevichy monastery, one of the city’s landmarks, in Russia’s capital Moscow on Sunday night.
Firefighters were working at the site. No injuries were reported so far. The fire was reported at 10.41 p.m., and it was concentrated on scaffolds surrounding the tower, which is under renovation, Xinhua reported.
The fire covered about 100 square meters. The cause of the fire is yet unknown.
The monastery is one of the main tourist attractions of Moscow and was placed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2004.
