Dubai, April 20 (Inditop.com/WAM) Disruption of flights across Europe due to volcanic ash clouds emanating from Iceland has cost Emirates Airlines around $50 million, the airlines has said.
Emirates is very closely monitoring the evolving situation across Europe, and the flight cancellations caused by the volcanic ash clouds has cost the airline almost $50 million, Emirates Airlines said Monday.
At least 30 aircraft from the Emirates’ fleet remain on the ground hotel accommodation in Dubai has been provided to thousands of passengers who were in transit when the disruption began, it said.
The airline was not accepting passengers for travel to any European destinations apart from Moscow, Athens, Larnaca, Malta and Istanbul till Wednesday.
Customers affected by the disruption can cancel their booking or change their onward destination without charge. All re-issue and cancellation fees have been waived, it said.
Over 250 Emirates’ flights have been cancelled and more than 80,000 passengers have been affected since the last five days.
