Colombo, May 9 (Inditop) At least four people were killed and 25 injured in an accident involving a bus, a tractor trailer and a motorcycle in Sri Lanka’s Dambulla district, police said Saturday. The island nation witnesses nearly 60,000 road accidents every year.
The three vehicles collided in Kekirawa at around 9.30 p.m. Friday. Police said the injured were rushed to the Kekirawa hospital.
Hospital sources said some of the seriously wounded people were transferred to hospitals in Anuradhapura and Dambulla.
According to traffic police statistics, nearly 60,000 road accidents take place annually in Sri Lanka, of which at least 2,200 are fatal.
Nearly two million vehicles ply on Sri Lanka’s 11,000 km of highways and nearly 60,000 km of other roads.
