New Delhi, Oct 10 (Inditop.com) Expressing solidarity with India after the attack on its embassy in Kabul Thursday, French President Nicolas Sarkozy has written to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh saying France will work with India to halt “the barbarism of the Taliban”.
“I would like to express my full support and deep solidarity to you in these painful circumstances,” Sarkozy wrote to Manmohan Singh on the day a powerful suicide bomb blast targeted the Indian embassy in Kabul, killing 17 Afghans and injuring over 80.
No Indian was killed in the bombing. Three Indo-Tibetan Border Police men were injured.
The letter was released to the media by the French embassy here Saturday.
“You are aware that France’s commitment to fighting terrorism alongside India is total,” Sarkozy said.
“The attack perpetrated today in Kabul has further strengthened my will that India and France work even more closely in this area to halt the barbarity of Talibans and fight all other forms of terrorism to which India is victim,” he said.
India and France have scaled up their counter-terror cooperation since the Nov 26, 2008 multiple attacks in Mumbai by Pakistani militants.
The 26/11 Mumbai attack killed over 160 people, including 26 foreigners.
