Athens, March 31 (IANS/RIA Novosti) Greece is to ban circuses from using animals.
The government has suggested an amendment in the law on animal rights that will increase the criminal liability for torturing animals, a media report said. Violators will be jailed.
The government has debated the bill since 2009 after a circus trainer was shown on television beating an elephant with a stick.
