Islamabad, Oct 15 (DPA) Gunbattles between Taliban militants and security forces that erupted Thursday morning in Pakistan’s eastern city of Lahore have ended, leaving 25 people dead, authorities said.
Ten attackers raided the headquarters of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) and two police training schools in the capital of Punjab, Pakistan’s largest province.
The security personnel cleared the FIA building and a training school immediately, but the siege at the Elite Force Training School in Badian continued for around four hours.
“The situation is completely under control and there are no hostages,” Major General Shafqaat Ahmad told reporters at the training centre.
Shafqaat said five terrorists were killed at Badian, but did not give figures for casualties among the police staff.
The head of the Rescue 1122 emergency service, Rizwan Naseer, said the total death toll in all three incidents had climbed to 25. Among them are 10 terrorists.
