Manchester, Sep 1 (IANS) England Twenty20 captain Stuart Broad expects India to bounce back in the five-match ODI series starting Saturday.
Broad led England to a six-wicket win in the one-off Twenty20 international at Old Trafford Wednesday night.
‘They’ve got some world-class talent in their team. They are the 50-over world champions so we know the danger they present,’ he said.
‘We are certainly not going to take any game lightly.’
Asked if he expects India to break their losing streak, Broad said: ‘Well yeah, of course. We know how dangerous India are. We need to focus on what we’re doing, we’re playing good cricket at the moment with guys standing up and performing on the big stage. That’s something we want to continue with.’
Broad praised young quickie Jade Dernbach (4/22) and Eoin Morgan (49) who were the chief architects of the win.
‘It was a fantastic game of cricket. We probably didn’t start as well as we would have liked to have done,’ Broad said.
‘Certainly in the first 10 overs we got it wrong. We need to assess that but the way we clawed it back is a testament to the side. To bowl India out in a Twenty20 format is brilliant. We know that wickets stop the scoring rate.
‘A special mention also has to go to Eoin Morgan with the way he batted. He’s been the best one-day batsman for a little while now. He let Ravi go at a run a ball,’ said Broad.
