Havana, Sep 23 (EFE) Former Cuban president Fidel Castro described last Sunday’s concert by Juanes as a blow to the 47-year-old US economic embargo against his country.
“The Cuban people, especially in their magnificent youth, showed that even in the midst of a brutal economic blockade, it’s possible to overcome unimaginable obstacles,” Castro said in his latest column “Reflections” published Monday night.
Fidel, who resigned from the presidency in February 2008, said that the event Sunday was “extraordinary” which saw about 1.15 million people turning up.
The Cuban government has been cautious in interpreting the “Peace Without Borders” concert for political reasons.
