Madrid, July 15 (DPA) Sami Khedira is about to sign for Real Madrid, sports daily Marca said Thursday.
The paper claimed that Vfb Stuttgart, Khedira’s Bundesliga club, have agreed to accept 10 million euros ($12.72 million) for the 23 year-old defensive midfielder who was outstanding for Germany at the World Cup.
Marca also claimed that Khedira visited Real’s Valdebebas training ground on Wednesday to talk to coach Jose Mourinho.
Rival daily AS, however, did not mention Wednesday’s visit and quotes Joerg Neubauer, Khedira’s agent, as saying that ‘nothing will really happen for two or three weeks.’
AS also claimed Thursday that Stuttgart will demand ‘at least’ 15 million euros for Khedira.
Real’s summer signings so far have been Spanish forward Sergio Canales from Racing Santander and Argentine winger Angel Di Maria from Benfica. They are also close to signing midfielder Pedro Leon from Getafe.
