London, July 2 (IANS) Singer Lily Allen is taking a break from singing to fulfil her dream of becoming a mother.
‘I don’t think I’m that young to have a baby. My mother had me when she was 23. It’s difficult as a woman who wants a family,’ she said.
‘Kids take up your whole life, particularly in the first two or three years. So it wouldn’t be very responsible of me to commit to doing a world tour if I had a baby,’ Allen added.
The 25-year-old singer was heartbroken after suffering a miscarriage in January 2008 with then-boyfriend Ed Simons’ baby. She recently announced she was taking an extended break from music and was hoping to have a baby in the first year of her sabbatical, reports contactmusic.com.
‘It’ll be a minimum of four or five years before I make a record again. I’d like to have a child within a year. I know what commitment it takes to release an album. I don’t think that mixes well with the idea of settling down and having children, which is ultimately my goal and more of a priority than flying around the world,’ she said.
