Melbourne, Nov 11 (Inditop.com) A man bit a dog in an Australian beach to save his own dog from being mauled to death.
Phillip Lane, a resident of Clifton Springs in Victoria, said he was walking his two-year-old dog Buddy with his wife Linda on Collendina beach at about 4 p.m. Monday, when a large, brown dog ran up and snatched their little dog in its jaws.
“It grabbed our dog, threw him to the ground and had him by the neck,” Geelong Advertiser quoted Lane as saying Wednesday.
Lane said he tackled the attacking dog and tried to forcibly unclamp its jaws with his hands.
“My wife was screaming, kicking the dog and trying to get it off … but it wouldn’t release him.
“I managed to open its jaws once and he let (Buddy) go, but then he grabbed him again,” he said.
Then, with one hand in the attacker’s mouth and another around its neck, he resorted to the most desperate of measures.
He said: “I thought, ‘if you’re not gonna let go, I’m gonna bite your ear off’ … I ended up biting him on the ear as hard as I could.”
The bite stunned the attacker, which released Buddy who was taken away by its owner.
They then grabbed their bloodied dog and rushed him to the vet.
Lane received multiple cuts to his hands from the attack.
