London, Jan 31 (IANS) The British home office has now launched a new series of maps that would inform people about the safety of their neighbourhood and how many crimes were committed there.
The crime guide would enable people to check if their airports, bus stations, ferry terminals, petrol stations, nightclubs, police stations, sports and recreation areas, race tracks, theme parks, parking areas, pedestrian subways, railway stations, shopping centres were hotspots for offences, the Daily Mail reported.
Visitors to the www.police.uk website need to type a postcode or address and search for crimes that happened nearby.
Previously, crimes were mapped to an anonymous point on a street with 12 or more postal addresses. Now they will include streets containing as few as eight addresses.
