Johannesburg, June 20 (DPA) The 31 Miss World finalists will climb aboard the new Rea Vaya bus system later Sunday to travel to a Brazil-Ivory Coast game.
Getting to and from games has been an issue for fans in some World Cup host cities, particularly Johannesburg and Rustenburg.
Roads leading to stadiums in the cities have been clogged with shuttle buses taking fans to the stadiums from park-and-ride points.
In Johannesburg, the city has been advising fans to get off the roads into trains or Rea Vaya rapid-transit buses, which run in dedicated median lanes and serve both Soccer City and Ellis Park stadiums.
‘We know and we have emphasized the issue of public transportation,’ World Cup local organizing committee spokesman Rich Mkhondo told a press conference in Johannesburg.
To ease the gridlock ahead of Sunday’s game at Soccer City the LOC has invited 31 Miss World finalists from the countries competing at the World Cup to highlight the merits of the BRT.
North Korea is the only World Cup finalist that will not be represented in the line-up of pin-ups.
