Ottawa, April 15 (IANS) Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday met Canadian Governor General David Johnston here after arriving in the Canadian capital on Tuesday evening on the final leg of his three-nation tour.
“PM @narendramodi calls on Canada’s Governor General David Johnston at Rideau Hall in Ottawa,” external affaits ministry spokesperson Syed Akbaruddin said in a tweet
Modi will also meet his Canadian counterpart Stephen Harper over a working lunch later in the day.
Modi will then head to Toronto – Canada’ most populous city – where he will attend a diaspora event in the evening.
On Thursday, Modi will attend a pension fund meeting followed by business level meetings. He will also visit the Air India Memorial in Toronto.
His next stop will be Vancouver, where he is scheduled to visit the Laxmi Narayan Temple and interact with the Indian community. He will also visit a gurdwara.
After attending a state dinner hosted by Harper, Modi will fly back to India.
This is the first bilateral visit by an Indian prime minister to Canada in 42 years.
