Tehran, July 14 (IANS) The nuclear agreement between Tehran and the world powers was a new chapter in relations between Iran and the international community, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said on Tuesday.
He said all Iranian objectives in the nuclear talks were met, Xinhua reported.
Iran’s nuclear capabilities were preserved and nuclear activities would continue in the country. The wrong and oppressive sanctions were removed, including UN Security Council sanctions against the country, he said.
Also, despite previous demands to rid Iran of centrifuges, Iran would keep 5,000 centrifuges in the Natanz nuclear facility and 1,000 in Fordow. The centrifuges in Natanz would continue uranium enrichment, Rouhani added.
Earlier, Rouhani confirmed the deal on his Twitter account.
“Iran deal shows constructive engagement works. With this unnecessary crisis resolved, new horizons emerge with a focus on shared challenges,” Rouhani tweeted.
