Wellington, July 1 (IANS) An 88-year-old man was killed after a car crashed into his house in New Zealand Thursday.
According to police, a Toyota Camry driven by an elderly man suddenly left the road and went over a steep incline before crashing into a house on East Coast Road in Northcross.
The vehicle ended up in the bedroom where the 88-year-old man was resting. The man’s wife, who was in another part of the house, rushed to the bedroom and found the body of her husband lying on the floor, the police said.
The driver is being treated at hospital but his injuries are not thought to be life-threatening, The New Zealand Herald reported.
The family of the deceased is in ‘deep shock’ and Victim Support services have been assisting at the scene.
