London, Oct 2 (IANS) Contestants of reality show ‘The X Factor’ have been banned from having sex in the show’s house under strict new rules for the upcoming season.

According to the new rules, if the contestants indulge in ‘intimate physical relationships’, they may be booted out, reports thesun.co.uk.

There are other tough rules too for the finalists, who could live in the $5.5 million mansion for up to 12 weeks.

They will not be allowed outside the house without an ‘X Factor’ team member, and neither will they be able to open the front door without permission.

‘Contestants have been given a firm talking to about what they can and can’t do. They’re definitely not allowed to have sex or strike up relationships – although, with their packed schedule, they won’t have time to. Producers have reserved the right to disqualify anyone who disobeys,’ said an insider.

In the last season of the show, housemates regularly went out to see fans and visit restaurants and shops.

This year’s contestants are banned from having overnight visitors, drinking if under-18, taking drugs or smoking anywhere except the garden. They must keep their rooms tidy, even though they have a cleaner.

Girls are not allowed to wear high heels indoors to prevent damage to the floors in the north London mansion.

These rules have been created even after ‘The X Factor’ judge Simon Cowell said that he wants more drama and crazier contestants this season.

‘I can’t tell people when and where they can and can’t have sex. Actually, I can probably tell them where they can’t,’ he had said.
