Beijing, July 23 (IANS) Floods in China this year have left 742 people dead and 367 missing, an official statement said Friday.
Floods have hit 28 provinces and affected 120 million people and 7.60 million hectares of crops, Xinhua reported, citing a State Flood Control and Drought Relief Headquarters statement.
The floods caused 670,000 homes to collapse and led to an economic loss of 152.4 billion yuan ($22.51 billion).
The statement added that typhoons were making the flood situation worse.
Typhoon Chanthu, which hit China Thursday, has affected over 1.3 million residents and toppled 2,915 houses. It has also caused an economic loss of 2.4 billion yuan ($354.51 million).
