Islamabad, June 20 (IANS) A paramilitary trooper was killed and eight others, including five civilians, were injured Sunday in a car bomb blast in Pakistan’s northwestern Quetta city, a media report said.

An explosives-laden Alto car, parked next to the Sariab Road, was detonated when a Frontier Corps vehicle was passing near a polytechnic in Quetta, Geo TV said.

Three injured troopers and five civilians were taken to hospital. Eyewitnesses said fire tenders rushed to the scene as a fire broke out after the attack.
