Islamabad, June 2 (IANS) Pakistan said Wednesday it hoped the India-US strategic dialogue would improve the regional environment and not adversely impact on Islamabad’s relations with Washington.
Be it Pakistan-US relations or India-US relations, all three countries must focus to promote their interests, Foreign Office Spokesman Abdul Basit told the VOA.
He hoped that as a result of the India-US dialogue, sub-continental relations would improve and disputes would be resolved as the talks would help improve the atmosphere in the region.
‘In the Pakistan-US strategic dialogue, we tried to expand our relations beyond (couter) terrorism and security. As regards the India-US strategic dialogue, we have no objection over their bilateral relations,’ he added.
He said India and the US have the right to improve their relations but this should not have any negative impact on Pakistan interests.
Washington and Delhi’s relations should have positive effects on the region, he said.
The India-US strategic dialogue will be held Thursday between Indian External Affairs Minister S.M. Krishna and US Secrertary of State Hillary Clinton.
